Heart Month 2024 is an annual observance dedicated to raising awareness about heart health and cardiovascular diseases. It serves as a reminder to prioritize heart-healthy lifestyles, learn about heart disease prevention, and support those affected by cardiovascular conditions.

 Some Facts:

· Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States.  The term “heart disease” refers to several types of heart conditions.  In the U.S., the most common type of heart disease is coronary artery disease (CAD), which can lead to a heart attack.  You can greatly reduce your risk for heart disease through lifestyle changes, and in some cases, medicine.

·1 person dies every 33 seconds in the U.S. from cardiovascular disease.

·1 in 29 adults age 20 and older have CAD.

· In the U.S., someone has a heart attack every 40 seconds.

·1 in 5 heart attacks are silent – the damage is done, but the person is not aware of it.
